EDF Energy has been working in partnership with Paralympics GB to help the squad become the greenest team at the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Keeping the team's carbon footprint in
shape
In 2011, the Paralympics GB squad's training camp became the
first in the world to have its environmental impact mapped by the
Council for Responsible Sport, as part of a new accreditation
scheme for sporting events.
EDF Energy has been playing a key role in helping the squad to
reduce its carbon footprint - both during training and at home. At
this year's camp, sustainable travel advice helped to reduce the
environmental impact of traveling to and from training, Eco Manager
wireless appliance controllers were distributed to athletes, to
monitor energy consumption, and stationary workout bikes raised
awareness by showing just how much human energy it take to power
domestic appliances.
