Powering a truly sustainable Games

As the Official Electricity Supplier to the Olympic and Paralympic Games, we are supporting London's efforts to host the most sustainable Games yet. On this page you'll find details of the innovative ideas and spectacular buildings helping to make the Olympic Park a showpiece for the battle against climate change, and the efforts that athletes themselves are making to cut their carbon footprints.

Take a tour of the Olympic Park

Join David Green, one of our Team Green Britain Heroes, on a unique tour of the stunning sustainability features of London 2012's Olympic Park. You can read more about the visit in David's blog.

Greening the Paralympics GB Team

EDF Energy has been working with the British Paralympic Association since March 2010 in a partnership aimed at making Paralympics GB a greener team ahead of the Games. In particular, we have teamed up with sustainability consultant and professional long distance triathlete Toby Radcliffe, to help the team's pre-Games training camps set new standards for sustainability.

In 2011, the Paralympics GB squad's training camp became the first in the world to have its environmental impact mapped by the Council for Responsible Sport, as part of a new accreditation scheme for sporting events. The camp was awarded Silver accreditation and our goal now is to land Gold fro the final training camp that the squad holds in August, just prior to the opening of the Paralympic Games.

You can read more about our efforts to green the team - and watch a film of the ground-breaking 2011 training camp here.
